Republic National Distributing's Arizona and Colorado books changed hands in May, leaving the region's hemp beverage route to market intact as the wholesaler enters Chapter 11.
# Reyes Purchase Shields Mountain West From RNDC Wind Down
MOUNTAIN WEST, August 2, 2026: Republic National Distributing Company's Chapter 11 filing lands on a region that has already changed hands. The wholesaler's Arizona and Colorado operations closed to Reyes Beverage Group on May 29, two months before RNDC sought bankruptcy protection on July 26, and its New Mexico affiliate sits outside the filing entirely.
The Reyes transaction covered 11 markets, including Arizona and Colorado, and represented more than $5 billion in RNDC revenue, according to Shanken News Daily. It was the largest acquisition in Reyes Beverage Group's history and extended its wine and spirits footprint to 16 states. National Distributing Company, which operates RNDC's New Mexico and Georgia business, is not among the 18 entities inside the bankruptcy, RNDC said.
RNDC entered the cannabinoid beverage category in 2021, distributing DayTrip, Oh Hi, Sati Soda and Wyld CBD in Colorado and New Mexico among other states. Those brands' wholesale representation in the region transferred rather than collapsed. Reyes has not publicly stated a position on hemp-derived THC beverages, which now makes its posture the determining factor for shelf access in the region's two largest markets.
That access remains narrow either way. Colorado caps hemp-derived beverages at 1.75 milligrams of THC per serving, and Senate Bill 26-164, which would have raised the limit to 10 milligrams in venues licensed to sell alcohol, has been withdrawn since April. In Arizona, the Court of Appeals has yet to rule on the Hemp Industry Trade Association of Arizona's special action against Attorney General Kris Mayes' position that intoxicating hemp products may be sold only through licensed dispensaries.
